Not Your Typical Coworking Space

Here’s what sets Workantile apart.

Ann Arbor’s original coworking community. We opened our doors in 2009, years before Zoom or Slack. Since then, Sarah, our resident novelist, has written over a dozen novels sitting at her Workantile desk.

We’re a member-run cooperative. We don’t have owners, investors, or staff. Members elect a volunteer board of directors who follow a set of bylaws. How that looks like in practice:

  • Members pitch in to give tours, order snacks, run the dishwasher, and fix the printer.
  • When we have a financial surplus, we return it to members in the form of a dividend.
  • We offer a safety net to members who suffer employment loss, giving them a few free months to get back on their feet.

It’s a community. Yes, we have fast WiFi and good coffee. But Workantile’s secret sauce is the people. Members bring in baked goods, discuss books, and play pickleball. We celebrate Pi Day and Fat Tuesday and Butter Day (!) together. Much of the camaraderie happens in our Slack chat, where people share contractor recommendations, vacation tips, and discuss local news.

Our members span a multitude of professions and include writers, graphic artists, scientists, graduate students, sales, and nonprofit professionals as well as programmers, designers, and tech managers.

All monthly memberships include access to phone and conference rooms. Please note that our conference and phone rooms are for member use only and are not available for outside rental to non-members.

All memberships require a $200 initiation fee. If needed, the initiation fee can be spread out over 2 installments. Learn more about the process of joining.

Day Passes

Just need to visit for a day? Day Passes are available! $35/day. Please pay here.

Day passes allow use of the space from 9am to 5pm on weekdays, excluding major holidays.

The Coworking Community Space

We share a 3,000-square foot space, secured around the clock by a keyless access system. Movable furniture, abundant power outlets, and high speed WiFi make for a flexible environment. Members have access to multiple private phone and conference rooms, a kitchenette stocked with snacks and coffee, private bathrooms, day-use lockers, and a multifunction printer/scanner/copier. Take a digital tour.
